SALE OF HILLWALKING ITEMS LEADS TO £500.00 DONATION TO SARDA (SCOTLAND)

In February 2023 Gwyneth March contacted Blantyre Hillwalking Club with the offer hillwalking items in the form of books, rucksacks, ropes, ice axes/crampons, boots & general bits n pieces that may be of use to hillgoers, which had belonged to her late father Graham Hutson.  The family were in the process of clearing the house, as her elderly mother would be moving from Hamilton and the family home was for sale.

A mutually convenient date was arranged and several boxes of hillwalking related goodies were loaded – enough to fill an estate car!

Subsequently these items were collated and photographed to be offered for sale amongst club members. Sales realised £350.00 to which the club added another £150.00 and the Search and Rescue Dog Association Scotland (SARDA) were chosen to be the recipients.

20th January 2024 saw the club run a very busy bus to Arrochar, with several route options. Post walk we enjoyed refreshments in the Ben Arthurs Bothy pub, where we had a photo opportunity to hand over a cheque for £500.00  to Moira Weatherstone who is the local SADRA (Scotland) dog handler attached to the Arrochar MRT.
